Back to working on my pineapple top (obviously not the pineapple blocks). Today's product is the 4 combo units.

Dutchman's Puzzle

Image
Stacy made her first flying geese for her Dutchman's Puzzle block. This morning I did Pickets & Quickets.

More catching up

Shaded 9 patch

I started over on the Shaded 9 Block.  I still might try to fix the earlier try, but don't hold your breath.

Deb Strain at CalCo Quilt Guild

Image
The program at the meeting was by Deb Strain, a prolific illustrator (as she likes to think of herself she said) for Moda fabrics, "and any other surface I can get my designs on." We enjoyed her step by step drawings and paintings that went into her very cute line "Effie's Woods" This was one side of her stock on sale. On my way down to Battle Creek before the meeting, I stopped at Quilt n Go and found some nice dark gray / black to go in my Radioactive project.

Passing back thru the mountains

Image
What a lovely day to be traveling homeward.  The mountains are a beautiful backdrop to the highway. I will be stopping for the night in Findlay, OH.

The final demos.

This is my graduation pic with Deb Tucker from last night. We did this pattern called Quad 60, which is due to the 4 pieces in each of the 6 component triangles. I want to teach the Radioactive pattern  at a weekend retreat.  Does that interest you?

Yay!!!

More sewing done

Image
Yesterday, we did the quarter of the Banded Lemoyne Star and I completed a large triangle from my Radioactive pattern.  Today, we did Migrating Geese and I did 4 eighths of the Liberty Lemoyne Star.

Prepping for a big day

Image
We had some demos on banded versions of the Lemoyne, Wedge and Star 60 stars.  We did some sewing. Then the afternoon was discussion on running a successful small business.  Lots of stuff to think about. This is the pattern I'm going to teach (for a few minutes) on Friday. I'm going to turn my demo blocks into a lap quilt after I get home, so I can teach a full class for this pattern later on.

Sewing from Day 2

Image
We did mini presentations this morning and then had demos and sewing in the afternoon.  On the left is Bird in Paradise and on the right is Economy Stacked Squares and Stacked Squares x8.

Some sewing on Day 1

Image
Shaded 4 patch units, and half a shaded 9 patch unit that needs repair.  There's more but I can't show it for now. Presentations tomorrow before more sewing.

Shop Hop!

Image
I got to Raleigh long before check-in time so I stowed my cart and headed toward the sound of laughter.  In the bar area I found some of my classmates.  We did the 1000 questions routine, but then decided to head out to the local quilt shops. First we headed to Cary Quilting Company.   http://caryquilting.com There, I signed up for the shop hop.  They gave me the tent pattern, I won the "stitch local" kit, and bought the orange flowers. Then my carload of me and 2 others went to Wish Upon a Quilt.  http://wishuponaquilt.com I bought the strawberry fabric and won the fat quarter. Then I dropped my passengers back at the hotel and got my roommate from the airport.  We got back to the hotel and checked-in.  Then we got a couple more folks and headed to the Bernina World of Sewing.  http://berninaworldofsewing.com They gave me a block kit, I bought the gear panel and the flowers, and won 20% off a kit, which I used on the "La Tuilerie" We ate at "The Big Easy&quo

Galax, VA

Image
I have come to rest for the day at a Hampton Inn in Galax, VA.  It is about about 20 miles beyond Wythesville on the 77 and 8 more miles off the highway.  The main drag has a Lowes and a Walmart. The drive in West Virginia was beautiful, driving through the Appalachians there.  There were two tunnels but those didn't bother me, not like driving the Mackinac Bridge. Tonight's pic is of a bag I'm using that my mom made. I have about a 3 hour drive to Raleigh in the morning.
