An Adventure in Western Ohio

On the morning of Friday, December 8, I drove up to pick up Rebecca.  Waving goodbye to Todd in the driveway, we set off toward Ohio.

The day before I had done some research online to pick out the shops to stop at.  After checking for photos to verify that they were physical shops, I came up with a list of ten.

#1 was Freedom Bound Quilt Shop, in Wauseon, which was having a 50% of everything except sewing machines.  If you are near NW Ohio, they are doing this all of December, so go!

#2, The Quilterie, in Celina, is on Main St.  At their recommendation we had lunch across the street at the Anchor and yes, the mushroom swiss burger was very good.

#3 on the list was Little House of Stitches, but when Rebecca called to ask a question, she found out they are online only.  So on to the next.

#4 was Cotton Junky.  We headed to Tipp City but didn't arrive in time for the posted 4pm closing.  We did find Tippecanoe and Weavers Too where Rebecca got some nice roving for her beret project.   We got a room, had some Chinese, and did a little holiday shopping.

Saturday morning we got to Cotton Junky at 10 am only to find a locked door and a sign that said BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.  I called and she was at her full-time job, so we got back in the car.

Rebecca called #5, The Cat's Meow in Ashville to verify that they would be open when we got there.  And it was!  A cozy shop in an out-building on their property.

We found #6, Calico Cupboard in Pataskala.  They are having a 50% sale on their Christmas themed stuff.  The green fabric was named "Christmas Green" so it counted.

#7 was Serendipitee in Waldo.  This is another BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.  And DON'T TRUST YOUR GPS.  Get directions while you are making your appointment.

After some adventures on farm roads that couldn't get there from here, we finally found it, closed.  Rebecca called and didn't get an answer, so we got back in the car.

#8 was Fresh Modern Fabric, but after Rebecca left a message and we got no response, we didn't even try going.

We went to #9, Busy Thimble in Bowling Green.  This quilt shop on Main street is attached to a Ben Franklin.  So, Rebecca was able to hop over and get some gold wire for a holiday decor project.  We went across the street and ate at the very busy Beckett's Burger Bar and Barrel Room.

#10 was supposed to be Quilt Foundry, but there was no hope.  They had already closed at 2 pm.

So, we went home.
